Help the Vainakhs

In 1994, Chechnya endured a destructive war that resulted in over 300,000 casualties. Faced with this bloody conflict, many Chechen refugees emigrated to Eastern and Western Europe. Today, the war is over, but hundreds of thousands of Chechens still live outside their homeland.

In Europe, Chechen refugees have more or less recovered from this war. The majority pursue education, work, and personal development. Many Chechen refugees create jobs by creating their own businesses.

A significant number of Chechens, who have experienced poverty and destruction, want to provide assistance to those in need who have suffered similar hardships and injustices. Thus, humanitarian associations like ours receive significant financial, moral, and human support from those who understand what it means to live in need.

However, the situation is not the same for all refugees. Some countries may not have the necessary economic development to help refugees get back on their feet.

Unfortunately, this is the case for thousands of Chechen refugees in Azerbaijan and Georgia. For many, obtaining employment or having access to education seems unrealistic when there are no official documents for some, or limited opportunities. However, motivation is not lacking, as the Chechen people are hardworking and rarely remain idle. The lack of jobs and, consequently, means of livelihood quickly results in poverty for many of these refugees, and extreme poverty for some. Many individuals find themselves on the streets with their families, including the elderly and young children. Some do not have enough to eat or decent clothing to withstand the harsh winter conditions in these regions. Many of our fellow compatriots still turn to us for help.

Salsabil’s Actions in These Regions

Aware of their difficult situation, we do everything in our power to provide assistance and alleviate the plight of refugees in these regions where life is very challenging.

Our main activity is the provision of food aid. This food aid is generally provided in the form of food kits, as well as meat and prepared meals distribution.

We have given particular importance to orphans in these regions, fully supporting around a hundred orphans throughout the year for several years now.

We help these refugees cope with the extreme winter cold in these regions by providing warm clothing and heating equipment.

We contribute to the education of children by distributing textbooks and school supplies.

Lastly, we provide medical assistance by distributing medical equipment and medicines.

In total, over the past ten years, we have assisted nearly 10,000 people in these regions.

The situation of refugees today has not been made easier by the pandemic and the current global crisis. We strive to help as many people as possible and will continue to do so as long as we have the opportunity.

We would like to thank everyone who has been involved in the realization of our projects in these regions and who have helped us for the past ten years to meet the needs of our compatriots.
